The question that has no doubt kept many website owners awake at night; how many backlinks do I have, or rather how many credible backlinks do I have. What are backlinks? The second name with which they are talked about is ‘inbound link’ these links are in fact a form of re directing internet traffic from one website to another. It is important when it comes to determining the page rank of any web site. The Google SEO counts these links as a vote. For example, if one website has a link to another website then Google counts that in bound link as a vote of confidence from one website (that hosts the link) to the other website (to which the link is directed). An honest answer to the question that keeps you up at night is that you may never have the opportunity to see how many backlinks you actually have. Google under no circumstance shows you the total or accurate number of backlinks that you have.
Another thing to consider is that these links only matter if they are credible and compatible. For instance if there is a website regarding interior decoration and it receives a backlink from a website that has articles or information related to cars or their models then there is no chance that Google will take that up as a credible backlink. So the point is that in order to make a backlink credible, it is important that the website that hosts a link to your account should have content related to your website. Or else, the backlink will fail to help your website gain popularity.
Now the other big question is why does not Google show you all the backlinks. Well it is quite simple. The Google SEO follows a simple algorithm that helps it rank various websites. If Google allows you to view the number of links you have then their algorithm will fail in hiding the mere bases on which Google allots high position to certain websites and lower to others.
Websites can then manipulate the Google search engine to make their website reach the top of Google search engine results.
The more link building that you have, greater your website will have a greater chance at securing the top positions in the Google search engine.
